How To Crochet Baby Sandals

In this project, I'll show you how to crochet baby sandals. This pattern, we will focus on crocheting the sole. Note that you'll need two buttons for fastening the sandals.

Materials Needed:

  • Pair of scissors
  • Sewing threads
  • Measuring tape
  • Sewing needle
  • Yarn needle
  • 100% cotton yarn (Luna Hep's "Camella")
  • Crochet hook (3 mm)
  • Pins with big heads for sewing flowers

Creating the Sole

  1. Prepare Yarn and Tools:
    • Use a double yarn (two balls of yarn or the inner and outer ends of one ball).
    • Take your 3 mm crochet hook.
  2. Create the Foundation Chain:
    • Start with a slip knot and chain 10 plus 3 extra chains (total: 13 chains).
  3. Begin Double Crochets:
    • Make 2 double crochets in the third chain from the hook.
    • Continue with 1 double crochet in the next 9 stitches.
    • In the very last stitch, make 5 double crochets.
  4. Work on the Other Side:
    • Repeat 1 double crochet in the next 9 stitches on the opposite side.
    • Make 2 double crochets in the very last stitch on this side.
    • Join the round with a slip stitch in the third chain.
  5. Second Round:
    • Chain 3 and make 1 double crochet in the next 2 stitches.

    • Repeat 1 double crochet in next 3 stitches on the other side.
    • Make 1 half double crochet in next 2 stitches.
    • Make 1 single crochet in the next 4 stitches.
    • Make 2 single crochets in the next 2 stitches.
    • Join the round with a slip stitch.
  6. Third Round:
    • Chain 1.
    • Make 2 single crochets in the next 4 stitches (increase).
    • Continue with 1 single crochet in the next 9 stitches.
    • Make 2 single crochets in the next 10 stitches (increase).
    • Continue with 1 single crochet in the next 9 stitches.
    • Increase by making 2 single crochets in the next 4 stitches.
    • Complete the round with an invisible finish instead of a slip stitch:
      • Cut the yarn and pull the tail through.
      • Use a yarn needle to insert the tail through the first stitch and then back through the last stitch.

Joining Two Soles

  1. Preparation:
    • Crochet another sole in the same manner.
    • Align both soles with right sides facing outwards.
  2. Join Soles:
    • Use gold sewing thread combined with dark brown yarn.
    • Join soles by making slip stitches around both soles.
    • For the last stitch, use the yarn needle to make an invisible finish.
    • Secure the stitches and hide the tails between the two soles.

Conclusion

Congratulations! You have completed one part of the baby sandal. Repeat the steps to make another sole.
