How To Crochet Simple Heart Keychain 

Materials Needed:

  • Yarn
  • Crochet hook
  • Stitch marker
  • Stuffing

Instructions:

  1. Magic Ring:
    • Create a magic ring by wrapping the yarn around your fingers.
    • Flip the yarn so there are two strands.
    • Insert the hook under the first strand and hook into the second, pulling it through.
    • Chain 1 to secure the ring.
  2. Round 1:
    • Make 6 single crochets (sc) into the magic ring.
    • Pull the yarn tail to close the ring.
  3. Round 2:
    • Make an increase (2 sc in one stitch) in each stitch around (12 sc).
  4. Round 3:
    • Sc 1, increase around (18 sc).
  5. Round 4:
    • Sc in each stitch around (18 sc).
    • Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing. This is Heart A.
  6. Heart B:
    • Repeat Rounds 1 to 4, but do not fasten off.
  7. Joining Hearts:
    • On Heart B, make 15 sc.
    • Mark the first of the remaining 3 stitches with a stitch marker.
    • Take Heart A, and make 18 sc into it.
    • Return to Heart B and sc in the remaining 3 stitches (36 sc total).
  8. Round 6:
    • Sc 7, decrease around (32 sc).
  9. Round 7:
    • Sc 6, decrease around (28 sc).
  10. Round 8:
    • Sc 5, decrease around (24 sc).
  11. Round 9:
    • Sc 4, decrease around (20 sc).
    • Insert stuffing.
  12. Round 10:
    • Sc 3, decrease around (16 sc).
  13. Round 11:
    • Sc 2, decrease around (12 sc).
    • Insert additional stuffing if needed.
  14. Round 12:
    • Decrease around (6 sc).
    • Cut the yarn, leaving a long tail for sewing.
  15. Closing the Heart:
    • Use the tail yarn to close the bottom of the heart by stitching through the front loops of the remaining stitches and pulling tight.
    • Use the tail from Heart A to close the top of the heart.
  16. Finishing Touches:
    • Weave in any remaining ends.
    • Add a white yarn detail, if desired.
    • Attach a keychain ring to complete the keychain.
