Crochet Fluffy Knit Look Sweater
Whether you're new to crocheting or a seasoned pro, this sweater will quickly become a favorite for its warmth and fashion-forward design. Enjoy making a beautiful garment that's ideal for chilly days or relaxing evenings at home!
Materials:
- Yarn: Alpaca with silk, Aran weight (see video description for more details)
- Tunisian crochet hook size 8, with a swivel cable
- Classic crochet hook, size 8
- Scissors
- Tape measure
- Stitch markers
- Needle (for sewing)
Panel Construction (each panel):
Starting Chain: Start by creating a slip knot and chain 60 stitches for size S/M. This will be the foundation chain.
- First Row: Begin on the second stitch from the hook and cast on stitches for your first row, inserting the hook into each chain, yarn over, and pull up a loop leaving it on the hook. Make sure you have 59 new loops on the hook.
- Edge Stitch: Yarn over and pull through one loop only (this creates an edge stitch).
- Forward Pass: Yarn over and pull through two loops, repeat across all stitches on the hook until the end of the row.
- The first row is now complete.
Following Rows:
- Second Row and Beyond: Insert the hook in between the vertical loops (bars) from the previous row, not touching the edge stitch, yarn over, and pull up a loop. Continue this across the entire row, ensuring you have 60 loops on the hook each time.
- Creating Fabric: Repeat the edge stitch and forward pass as in the first row, continuing with this pattern until you reach the desired length. For size S/M, work a total of 56 rows.
- Marking Rows: To make counting easier, place a stitch marker every 10 rows.
Finishing the Panel:
- Swap the Tunisian hook for a classic crochet hook and work a final 57th row of slip stitches to finish off the panel.
Making Sleeves:
- Measure 14 stitches in from each side and mark these points; leave a 32 cm gap for the neckline.
- Turn the panels inside out and join the shoulder seams using slip stitches (possibly done with a smaller crochet hook, size 6).
- Cast on stitches directly from the sweater for the sleeve, creating 40 stitches along the armhole.
- Work in the main stitch pattern for the sleeves without decreases until you've completed 46 rows or until the sleeve reaches the desired length.
- Finish the last row (47) of the sleeve with slip stitches, similarly to the bottom of the sweater.
Joining and Finishing:
- Fold the garment with the right sides facing each other.
- Sew the bottom of the sleeve and the side of the sweater using a mattress stitch.
- For the neckline, work one round of slip stitches.
